2s Make Strong Start

The new look 2s arrived at the game not knowing what to expect from their first game of the season away to West Lothian. in the first round of the cup. Despite starting well and pressing early on, the uni struggled to create any real chances and it was evident that a lack of playing time together was hampering our flow.

West Lothian worked their way back into the half and had themselves a few opportunities to score, even hitting the crossbar but at half time the score was 0-0. We boldly made 3 half-time substitutions and began to relax into the game and take control. Our passing improved and we started to eventually work some good chances. We made the break through after some extended pressure brought a corner and Harald duly headed home. This was the turning point in the game and we kicked on from there and became dominant. A terrific run by Bertie Collins down the left hand side brought him one on one with the goalkeeper and a brilliant finish into the right hand corner of the net followed. The afternoon’s game was rounded off when another break by Collins down the left saw a low cross driven to the back post where Phil McNicholas coolly tapped home.

The game ended 3-0 and was a real stepping stone to what looks like could be a successful season for the 2s
