Following a slump in East of Scotland league form, the lads have responded very well in their Universities league on a Wednesday with a comprehensive 0-3 win over a very good Stirling University side. Although this form does not have a bearing on today’s league it should provide motivation going into today’s fixture. Goals have been coming in abundance, with Stefan Ross finding the net again on Wednesday and the recently impressive Hodgson who notched another goal on Wednesday to add to his brace the previous week.
The 2s have shown real inconsistency in recent times. With an impressive away point in Glasgow a fortnight ago followed by a 4-0 victory in the league (a sublime hattrick from Joe Darvel), they have been knocked out of a cup competition and lost ground in their BUCS league following defeats to Edinburgh Rose and St Andrews respectively. They will look to return to league form on Saturday as they travel to Mayfield and Easthouses.
The Under 21s have had a very good run of form progressing into the quarter finals of the Stuart Brown Memorial Trophy and winning two from two in their U21s league. On a Wednesday their good run came to an end with an incredibly difficult trip up to Aberdeen where they were beaten 4-2.
The 4s are excited to announce their new manager, Gerry McGinty. Gerry is a fantastic addition to this already outstanding coaching setup and we wish him the best of luck. Gerry was not in place in time for the start of the season where the Ressies made good progress in both their Wednesday and Saturday’s leagues. They have taken 10 points from 5 games, which is an excellent return considering they had no manager for the majority of this period. A special mention to Luke Robinson for holding the fort whilst we searched for our new manager.
Off the field the new players committee have been working hard to ensure that the club is smoothly running coming up to the new academic year where we look to continue the developments already made on East Peffermill. I hope you find time to enjoy our new clubhouse facilities at half time and after the game. We have also launched our brand new website which is proving to be a great success. You can access the new website at www.euafc.com
