Wednesday saw the first XI beat Hibernian FC East of Scotland 1-0 in the King Cup quarter final. The Hibs side consisted of their U21s squad and up until wednesday had not lost at home all season. Front man Jack Guthrie got the only goal of a game which was dominated by the Uni for long periods; “I thought it was a really complete performance. We were excellent in the first half and could have easily been further ahead. They came out strong in the second half but we defended very well and we were very dangerous on the counter attack. For the goal it just fell nicely for me in the box and struck it with my left foot on the spin. I am very pleased to get on the score sheet but really I am just buzzing for the semi final now.” said Jack after the game.
After an already momentous week for the club this result only strengthens the belief that the club can turn a few heads in the not distant future. On reflection, Head Coach Dorian Ogunro said “Delighted to get to another semi final. The whole team played very well & we could have won by a bigger margin had their keeper not pulled off some wonderful saves. Well deserved win against a team who until last night hadn’t lost at home all season.”
Superb effort from the boys and heres to the whole club being right behind them for their upcoming semi!
