On saturday the first XI will face Lothian Thistle Hutchinson Vale. The prospect of this match is an incredibly exciting one with two sides in very good form coming head to head. LTHV have had an incredible season so far and sit comfortably top of the league with games in hand over the chasing pack. However, EUAFC will take confidence in their performances of late and consider the fact that we have achieved fantastic results against the ‘better’ teams this season. The most recent achievement was knocking third place Lowland Division, Vale of Leithen out of the Kings Cup. A professional and convincing display secured a 2-0 away win which ensured that last weekend witnessed the first captain’s cobalt for all 4 teams winning on the same day for three years!
The 2s continue their typical post-Christmas revival with 6 points from their last 3 games. Results are particularly hard to come by considering the adverse conditions which the LEAFA leagues can present but the boys have had to overcome these obstacles to put in quality results with a mixture of gritty and classy performances. Vince Coleman’s recent promotion to the first XI is a testament to the maintenance of the club’s philosophy throughout the club, and I am certain that Vince is not, and will not, be the only boy outside of the 1st XI to be knocking on the door of the first team.
The Under 21s have also continued on their impressive run of late sealing victory in the quarter final of their league trophy on Saturday to progress into the semi-finals. A 7-1 thrashing of Bathgate the pick of recent results from the 21s with an incredibly rare ‘header’ from Alan ‘BNOC’ Chung. Having not lost in the league all season, they sit third in the league with plenty of games in hand over the teams above them.
The 4s are also making excellent progress recently having reached 2 semi-finals. Unfortunately they narrowly missed out on their first semi-final against a strong Clermiston opposition. They swiftly put things right on Saturday with a 5-0 demolition of Whitson Star and sit comfortably mid-table in their league.
Off the field, the club held its Annual General Meeting where a new committee was selected. I am honoured to be running as Club President for a second year running and would like to take this opportunity to thank my current committee and to welcome the new. We are also pleased to announce confirmed dates for our annual Easter Camp. It will run from April 7th – 11th 09:00-15:00.
