Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I would like to extend an especially warm welcome to all players, supporters and officials from Hawick Royal-Albert Football Club.
This looks set to be a fascinating encounter as both teams could qualify from this competition. Sitting top of the qualifying league and on a very good run of form we are feeling confident we can finish top of this group and progress. But this will not be an easy task as fixtures have begun to be interrupted by the weather and we have found consistent match time difficult to achieve. It is times like this we are lucky to have our Wednesday BUCS fixtures which proved, this week, to be a very welcome distraction. The lads thrashed a strong Robert Gordon first team 6-1 with the goals being shared across the team; Kohei Habata, Wardy, Finn Daniels, and goal-machine’s Hamish Flett and Captain Tim Rawlinson (x2). Coupled with an away win at Duns last week, the lads go into this fixture full of confidence.
Talk of renewed confidence moves me nicely onto the 2s who displayed their qualities last Saturday in tough conditions away at Penicuik where some brilliant football resulted in a comfortable 4-2 victory. A wonderfully executed free-kick from Vince Coleman was followed by goals from Harald Burchardt, Conor Regan and Calum Frain. With players coming back from injuries, the 2s will now look to push on up the table and finish their season strongly.
The Under 21s have started the New Year with a bang, winning 2-0 in their Saturday league and then thrashing local rivals Heriot Watt 6-0 on Wednesday. Again goals were shared across the board with Joe Macfarlane, Gregor Colquhoun, Betie Collins, Calum Cant, Jack Simmons and Alexander Beaton all getting on the score sheet. The lads are working very hard off the pitch and look to progress in all forms of league and cup.
The 4s are making excellent progress under new manger Mikey De-Angelis, son of 2s manager Carlo. Mikey is a fantastic addition to our coaching staff and we hope his relationship with the club will be a long and successful one.
Off the field the new players committee have been working hard to ensure that the club is smoothly running coming up to the New Year and we are pleased to announce confirmed dates for our annual Easter Camp. It will run from April 7th – 11th 09:00-15:00. For more details and to download an application form please go to our website www.euafc.com or visit our Facebook page.
Also a final message to congratulate the women’s football club on their Wednesday league who have gone unbeaten in the league and long may that continue throughout the competition!
One Club. One Love.
