Wednesday the 19th of the March saw the return of the Annual varsity match between Edinburgh University and Heriot Watt. Both sides fielded a select XI featuring a mix of players from all the teams. Edinburgh won the contest in convincing fashion, eventually winning 5-0. Edinburgh took the lead early on when Kohei Habata darted onto a pass and after a clever pass found the top corner of the net. Despite the match being a friendly it was fiercely contested and it was still 1-0 at half time. There were sweeping changes at half time with 10 substitutions made by the home side. Edinburgh almost doubled there lead when 1s goal keeper Mark Tait struck the bar during a left midfield cameo. Minutes later though, he did manage to get his goal when he latched onto a ball over the top from Duncan Black and audaciously lobbed it over the goal keeper with the outside of his left boot. Wild celebrations followed with a 20-man pile up forming in the corner. Edinburgh made it 3 when Jack Guthrie converted after Kohei Habata was denied a second. Two late goals from Calum Murray and then Calum Frain made it 5-0 as Edinburgh made it their year in style.
