EUAFC 0– 1 Gala Fairydean Rovers (SLFL) 25/8/18

The 1st team were back in Lowland League action as they faced a Gala side that were eager to get their first points of the season at East Peffermill.

The first half was one to forget for both teams as chances came few and far between. Gala had the best chance of the half when they managed to get through the Uni’s right hand side but Tait was at hand as he saved well to his left from the resulting shot at goal.

‘Tattie’ sprang into action in the Uni goal again not long after the second half started.  A cross was met by the Gala striker’s head which forced him to tip the ball of the bar for the corner. With the Uni struggling to make any clear cut chances at goal, Gala made the breakthrough. The visitors made their way into the Uni box and picked out their midfielder on the right side of the goal as he slotted home from 8 yards.

The Uni tried to respond quickly, as new boy Sinclair whipped in an early cross which met the head of Baird in the box. He headed the ball goalwards but the ball flashed past the post to Gala’s relief.

The boys searched for an equaliser but Gala held on for the win in what was a frustrating afternoon for the 1st team.
