Sean Brennan reports on the 2s victory in the Scottish Amateur Cup against Leithen Rovers.

Leithen Rovers 0-1 EUAFC (Scottish Amateur Cup) 1/9/18

The boys started out their Scottish Amateur Cup run in solid style. Edinburgh started the game confidently with excellent spells of play that stretched the Rover’s defence. After some consistent pressure and a handful of chances the Uni scored after a darting run by Louis Maurice with a tidy finish by Logan Sirel. The Uni were comfortable at the back apart from a lofted shot that struck the bar.

Half time: 0-1

The second half became more of a grind. Leithen began to throw more into their attack and the Uni just couldn’t keep possession. The Uni had more chances on goal to put the game to bed, but the ball didn’t find the net. After some stoic defending, including a hefty challenge by club Captain Euan Lannon, the boys managed to shut out Leithen for 90 minutes. The 2’s came away with a clean sheet and heading into the next round.

Full time: 0-1
